Frequently Asked Questions
For additional information, please contact us at 1-800-MDA-4981 (calls and text messages accepted).
Absolutely! We designed MDAnywhere with you in mind. Simply log on and submit a request. Our medical team responds quickly and all visits are completed without inconvenient appointments, phone calls, or video.
Unfortunately, no. Although most patients 18+* can be safely treated, the online nature of our service means that our medical team will have to be more cautious than if they were seeing you in person as part of a traditional visit. For this reason, we unfortunately can't help everyone who wants to use our service.
Our medical team follows strict guidelines to make sure we only complete your online visit when it's safe and appropriate to do so. If it’s not in your best interest to use MDAnywhere based on what you tell us about your health history or symptoms, we’ll advise you to see a medical provider in person and we’ll refund your consultation fee.
* To receive treatment at MDAnywhere you must be 18+ (except in Alabama and Nebraska where you must be 19+).
If you need help filing a claim for reimbursement by your insurance company for a visit, we can provide documentation of the costs associated with your visit with the provider. We do work very hard to deeply discount the cost of our online visits because we believe treatment for simple medical problems should be affordable. You can still use your medical insurance, prescription plan, or prescription discount services (RxSaver, SingleCare, HelpRx, WellRx, and others) at your pharmacy to reduce any prescription cost. Please note that our physicians are not able to get prior authorizations from insurance companies to cover prescriptions.
Yes, doctor's notes are available (at the discretion of your provider) for up to 2 (two) days off school or work for certain conditions. You are also able to print a copy of your visit summary for your records, or as proof of your medical treatment.
Any COVID-19 related symptom or illness that requires a doctor note will have isolation instructions that follow current CDC guidelines for work/school leave and return.
CDC guidelines are constantly changing, but as of September 1st, 2022 the CDC requires 10 days of isolation before travel. Individuals who have had a documented COVID-19 infection can travel on the 11th day after symptoms began or on the 11th day after a positive test (if there were no symptoms). For example, if symptoms began on August 1st, but the positive COVID-19 test was performed on August 8th, the clearance date would be August 12th (based on the first day of symptoms), not August 19th. If there were NO symptoms, with a positive COVID-19 test on August 8th, the clearance date would be August 19th (11 days after the positive test).

Yes! If you have received notification that your treatment is complete, then the pharmacy should have your prescription ready for pick up very soon, usually within 1-2 hours. A 24 hour pharmacy may have your prescription available shortly after your notification, regardless of the hour your request was submitted. Check with your pharmacy for store hours.
Yes! While neither MDAnywhere nor Access Medical Associates sells or delivers medications, many pharmacies will locally deliver the medications that you were prescribed. Check with your local pharmacy for details. Mail order pharmacy selection is also available.

To locate a mail order pharmacy simply select the mail order option, then select the appropriate pharmacy.
Type in the first name of your online pharmacy in the search bar.
MDAnywhere does not provide pharmacy services or sell any medication. Your pharmacy will charge you for any medications that you were prescribed by a physician. Please note that our physicians are not able to get prior authorizations from insurance companies to cover prescriptions.
Yes, you may call your new pharmacy and request that they contact your original pharmacy to transfer the prescription. You will likely need to provide the prescription number from your original pharmacy.
Although this is an uncommon problem it does happen from time to time for various reasons:
The most common reason is that you contacted the pharmacy too early. Please allow the pharmacy 1-2 hours after your MDAnywhere visit is completed to process the prescription.
Sometimes, the pharmacy may have your prescription under a slightly different spelling of your name or a slightly different birth date. Have them check separately by your name and also by your birth date.
Make sure that you are contacting the same pharmacy that is listed in your treatment summary.
If you are using an app which is not showing all of the prescriptions that were prescribed as being ready, this may be for several reasons, including:
Awaiting pharmacy insurance approval
Medication out of stock
Pharmacy computer system has not yet logged the prescription
Please call your pharmacy and speak DIRECTLY with the pharmacist. In almost all cases, they will inform you that they did, in fact, receive all the prescriptions and let you know the reason for their delay. If the pharmacist tells you directly that they have not received an electronic prescription from us, then please let us know. We will do everything we can to resolve any issues.
Whenever possible, your prescription will be for low-cost, generic medication. There are several prescription coupon sites such as RxSaver, SingleCare, HelpRx, WellRx, and others which may reduce the amount of money the pharmacy will charge for your medication, even for generic medications. Please note that our physicians are not able to get prior authorizations from insurance companies to cover prescriptions.
Cosmetic and specialty medication prescribed by the medical team at MDAnywhere can easily be refilled by visiting the pertinent treatment page and completing a treatment request. Yes, this is the same method as for your prior visits. Some pages will have special refill request options. The medical team needs to ensure your safety and requires the most up to date medical history in order to prescribe the best treatment possible.
Routine medical refills for ongoing medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, under active thyroid, etc., can be requested from the standard prescription refill page.
Prescriptions are easy and fast. All prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy. As soon as you submit a completed treatment request, our doctors can review your chart and build an online treatment plan. Depending on the number of requests, this time may vary, however there is a good chance it will be there before you would expect.* A "completed treatment" message is sent only after all prescriptions are confirmed to have been received by your pharmacy.
*The physician team reviews requests between the hours of 7am and 11pm EST. Most prescriptions are sent within 2 hours of request submission.
Please log into your patient portal and send us a secure message if you have any pharmacy-related issues or concerns. We will do our best to help solve the problem.
Our secure messaging portal is available 24 hours a day. Simply type your question or message and press send. You will be notified immediately when a team member has replied to your message.
Any messages about your health care need to be sent through your patient portal. This keeps your information safe and secure, so no one besides you and your treatment team has access to it. It is encrypted, password-protected, and HIPAA-compliant.
To access the messaging system, log into your account and click the "MY ACCOUNT" tab at the top of page. Then select "MESSAGE CENTER" where you may view or send messages.

We have built our website to comply with HIPAA rules regarding access to and sharing of any personal information.
Both patients and physicians need to login with a username and password before viewing any patient-related information. All information is encrypted. Rest assured that your private medical information will remain private.

Any lab test order received from MDAnywhere may be brought to any lab collection station or private laboratory. Be sure to bring a printed copy of the test order with you. Many laboratories will be able to schedule you for a convenient appointment time. MDAnywhere has established reduced lab fees for our patients who select LabCorp.
Your credit card is pre-authorized for a potential physician charge upon a treatment request submission. This is not a charge to your card. This pre-authorization is a temporary credit hold and is similar to what occurs at a gas station pump or when leaving a security deposit for a hotel room. Rest assured, only after the physician provides treatment will your credit card be charged.
If you are unable to receive online treatment at MDAnywhere, the pre-authorization will be removed from your card after approximately 48 hours as per your credit agency's policy.
Remember you will only be charged if our doctors can treat you.
Sometimes the right thing to do is recommend you go to a doctor's office rather than have our medical team treat you because your health and safety are more important to us than anything. Symptoms like dizziness, weakness or severe pain should be evaluated in person because they may be signs of a serious condition. There are other symptoms, certain medical conditions, or even medications that may increase your risk of complications and require an in-person examination. Remember, if our doctors cannot treat you, there will be no charge.
We are confident that every user will be 100% satisfied. Our entire team shares this goal. If for any reason you are dissatisfied please contact us at 1-800-632-4981. You may review our refund policy here. Remember, if our doctors cannot treat you, there will be no charge.
